France, the hard way!

Our Operations Manager, Aileen McGovern, has been hard at work training to achieve something unique – the first all-woman crew to row across the English Channel in a gig. Three boats from the local Langstone Cutters rowing club battled against poor weather and mountainous seas whilst dodging cross-Channel ferries and container ships.

Aileen’s crew made it to France in an impressive 5 hours and 24 minutes, all the more impressive when you realise that one of the crew dropped out due to severe sea sickness part way through and they finished with just seven rowers!

Aileen has, so far, raised over £600 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance – a cause which is very close to our hearts in the helicopter community.
